DEUCE OF SPADES POST PRODUCTION TEAM SLAVING AWAY

  • Mood:

With only a few weeks to the Premiere Test Screening, you can bet we are all working our fannies off trying to get the film as complete as possible before the deadline hits us in the face like a 10 feet tall brick wall.

Ouch.

The little post production team of DEUCE OF SPADES is slaving away, consisting mostly of me, me, me, myself and I... And a handful of courageous volunteers.

FAITH: I continued working on my climax scene last night, dialing in the shots and edits, adding several more cuts of Johnny and the deuce. I then had to recreate the sound entirely from scratch, since we didn't have sound at the lake that day, due to a wind storm that made it impossible to get clean sound. All car sounds has to be created  from thin air (pun intended LOL) . I am happy with the scene now, and will set it aside and come back to in next week, to look at it with fresh eyes / ears.

below: the editing wizard in her natural habitat, complete, with pillows and strange working position. Ironically it turned out to be the most comfortable of them all, and results in no strain whatsoever on my neck, while a "normal" sitting position ends up doing a number on it. Go figure. Notice the pad attached to my right wrist, a contraption of my invention made with a hair tie and foundation make up sponge (fancy high tech stuff ) , which prevents my wrist from blistering after long editing sessions... In the foreground (right side0 yet another 1 TB hard drive box. I currently have 11 One TB disk in use for the film, 4 in my PC and the rest are external safety backups/clones.

JERRY: Meanwhile, my loyal Production Assistant Jerry has been logging in the 8 inch high pile of contracts that the film has spawned over the last 2 years. Actors, location owners, car owners, extras, crew members, volunteers just to name a few, all had to sign release forms and now Jerry is slowly digesting them and spewing them into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, so we can double check we have everyone's release and, more importantly, don't forget anyone in the film end credits! (Oh boy! This is one thing I really worry about...). Jerry has been at it for two days now and has about 6 more to go... He's doing a great job!

CHRIS: A few miles down the road from me, Chris, a Dreamworks CGI artist and fellow filmmaker, is working on three CGI shots for the crash scene. Mostly light oriented CGI's.

FRANK: On the other side of the globe, German CGI artist Frank has just completed his SCTA flashback CGI shot,  and getting ready to dive into the crash scene with a CGI explosion which we hope will add a lot to the scene. An avid hotrodder himself, he has been heaven sent and I know I can count on him to be there for me, even though we have never met.

BLUE: Meanwhile, Blue, up in Sylmar, CA- USA, is helping me with legal stuff as well as lining up a pick up shot shoot which will require an extra long lens and a focus puller (They're filming me so I can't help )...

ROBERT: Couple hours more East, fellow filmmaker Robert has lined up for me a real bookstore to film at, to complete my already filmed bookstore scene. This is all happening THIS SUNDAY, so stay tuned for the blog on that shoot

KEITH: Straight across the country, Keith, a new comer to the team, and also an avid hotrodder, has volunteered to help finalize the DEUCE OF SPADES main logo, Johnny's emblem. He has been a delight to work with and we are making great progress. We are not done yet, but I have already fallen in love with one of his many designs so I decided to start revamping the website, which was in GREAT NEED of it. You can see the new look here: www.deuceofspadesmovie.com

FAITH: yep, me again! This time I am putting my webmaster hat on and dived in head first yesterday, creating a completely new look for the film's official website. Did two more pages today and will continue to upgrade pages all next week... Many new features are being added also, but they are not yet active. For exemple, you should soon be able to download, free of charge, the teaser of DEUCE OF SPADES into your I-phones and I-pod )... Then you can show it to all your car buddies hehehehe...

As you can see, no procrastinators here .
